Pueblo senior Fox comes close to quadruple-double in Rattlers’ win

The Tucson Rattlers, behind a near-quadruple-double by Pueblo senior guard Summer Fox in an early game today, improved their record to 12-1 in the July evaluation period with two more victories.

The Rattlers, coming off a championship at the NCAA Super Showcase in Las Vegas on Wednesday, defeated Xpress from Colorado 68-49 and VK Basketball from British Columbia (Canada) 58-39 in the opening day of the EOT Summer Swoosh Championships at Ladera Ranch, Calif.

They play two more games tomorrow in the tournament, which concludes Sunday.

In the first game today, Fox, 5-foot-7, recorded 17 points, 10 rebounds, eight steals and six assists. The eight steals are indicative of Fox’s strength on defense.

Summer Fox is averaging 4.5 steals per game in 13 games this month with the Tucson Rattlers.

With eight more steals in the second game, Fox has 58 steals in the Rattlers’ 13 games this month, an average of 4.5 steals per game.

The Rattlers finished with 21 steals in the first game and 19 in the second.

In the first game, Ironwood Ridge junior forward Bella Hamel had 12 rebounds and six steals. Tanque Verde senior forward Nikya Orange had 17 points and nine rebounds.

Marana junior post player Bella Muscoreil made 6 of 10 field goal attempts and finished with 13 points.

In the second game, Fox also had 16 points, six assists and five rebounds. Hamel had nine points and nine rebounds while Ironwood Ridge junior Makayla Holthaus finished with seven points and seven rebounds.

Marana junior guard Antoinette “Andy” Audiss had nine points, five rebounds and three steals, and Ironwood Ridge senior guard Caroline Finster had four steals.
