Tucson Rattlers conclude successful July with 15-2 record

The Tucson Rattlers came up short in their quest for another championship today but finished the July evaluation period for college recruiters with a 15-2 record spanning tournaments in Chicago, Las Vegas and Ladera Ranch, Calif.

The Rattlers lost 49-38 to Oregon Elite today in the Summer Swoosh Championships title game at Ladera Ranch, the third championship game they have played this month. They lost by one point in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Chicago and captured the NCAA Super Showcase title in Las Vegas.

The Tucson Rattlers concluded July with a 15-2 record. In the game today, Pueblo senior guard Summer Fox led the Rattlers with 11 points, five assists and five steals. Marana junior guard Antoinette “Andy” Audiss was the Rattlers’ leading scorer with 12 points, going 4-of-9 from 3-point range.

Ironwood junior forward Bella Hamel finished with seven points and seven rebounds.

The Rattlers, a 17U team comprised of top high school players in the Tucson area, will continue to practice in August and September with the 16U team. Their next tournament is not until Sept. 28-30 in Garden Grove, Calif.
