The Pima men’s basketball team has made history to start the 2018-19 season. It’s ranked No. 1 going into the season, a first for the program.
The program lost in last season’s championship game, but more of the same success is anticipated this year. The team is coached by longtime coach Brian Peabody.
The Aztecs were No. 1 in the NJCAA Division II preseason poll that was released on Monday.
The Aztecs have three returners in Abram Carrasco (Cholla HS), Robert Wilson (Salpointe Catholic HS) and Elloheim Clark from last season. They went 31-5 overall.
The Aztecs will open the regular season on Nov. 9 against the Arizona Christian University JV team at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
