Desert View sophomore Serge Gboweiah rushed for 166 yards on 21 carries to help lead the Jaguars past Sunnyside 20-6 in the highly anticipated “Duel in the District” last Friday. Gboweiah also scored a touchdown in the victory to move Desert View to 1-0 to start the season out.
Gboweiah and Desert View will receive a banner from APS Digital Print at practice this week and his team, coaches and family are invited to Wings over Broadway on Thursday for the presentation of the Player of the Week Plaque.
APS Digital Print and the Tucson Conquistadores have agreed to recognized the Football Player of the Week and the awards will culminate with the official Frog and Firkin Southern Arizona All-Star lists in December.
