Tournament of Champions: Silverbell: Sept. 27-28
The “Tournament of Champions” was played at the Silverbell Golf Course on Friday and Saturday and Salpointe ran away with the tournament with five golfers in the top ten including the top four spots.
Carlos Astiazaran shot a 1-over-par 141 to claim the individual title with Albert Quihuis taking second and Danny McQuade coming in third. McQuade shot a 2-under 68 on Friday to record the lowest round in the tournament. McQuade will be playing lacrosse for William Penn University.
As a team, Salpointe is ranked No. 6 in Division II and Ironwood Ridge is No. 8. Individually, Walden Grove junior standout Gabriel Escalera is ranked No. 7 and Nighthawk senior Jarrod Johnson is No. 10.
Johnson took third place at the Rivalry Cup held at the Omni on Friday and Saturday.
