Another star among many included with local girls basketball — Sabino junior guard Kamryn Doty — was honored by the school tonight for recently achieving her 1,000th career point.
Doty, a three-year starter, has posted 1,101 points in her career. She has several Division I scholarship offers including from UNLV, NAU, George Washington and St. John’s.
Junior guard @kamryn_doty, a 3 yr starter, scored her 1000th point last month in the Nike TOC. She currently has 1,101 and is on pace to be Sabino’s all time leading scorer. And oh by the way, she’s a star in the classroom too. 💜🏀🐐 pic.twitter.com/9Hegw3KvjV

Sabino (15-4) will play Sahuaro (17-0) in an anticipated matchup at McKale Center for the MLK Classic on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
The game will feature three Division I prospects, including Doty, Sahuaro junior Alyssa Brown and Sabino junior Kiya Dorroh. The Sabercats’ point guard, sophomore Kam’Ren Rhodes, is out for the season because of an ACL tear that required surgery. She is expected to make a full recovery. Rhodes has also received Division I offers.
