Buena Boys Hoops Beat Nogales in OT, Increase Winning Streak to 17 Games, Longest for Colts in 38 Years

Buena outlasted Nogales 72-67 in overtime at Nogales tonight to improved to 22-2 overall and increase its winning streak to 17 games.

That’s the longest streak at the school since 1971-72, when the Colts won 20 straight before losing in the 2A state championship game.

Senior point guard Brock Fenton drilled a deep 3-pointer with 3 seconds left in regulation off a pass from Jovany Featherston to tie the game at 61.

In overtime, Featherston scored Buena’s lone field goal on a pull-up jumper. He and Fenton combined to go 9-of-10 from the free-throw line in the extra period.

Featherston and Isaiah Baugh both had 20 points for Buena and Fenton finished with 15.

Stephen Legleu of Nogales led all scorers with 28 points. Julian Grijalva had 13.

Buena hosts Marana on Tuesday and is at Ironwood Ridge next Thursday. Nogales hosts Cienega on Tuesday and travels to Sunnyside on Thursday.
