Soccer Playoffs: Sam Wright and Lina Bracamonte combine for two goals to send Sahuarita to the quarterfinals; Play-In brackets released

No. 8 Sahuarita sophomore Lina Bracamonte picked up two goals and freshman Sam Wright collected two assists to lead the Mustangs past No. 9 Paradise Honors 2-1 Tuesday night to advance to the 3A quarterfinal round where the team will face No. 1 ALA Queen Creek at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Sahuarita beat Paradise Honors 7-0 in the Play-In Tournament last year before beating Sabino 3-1 in the first round of the state playoffs. The Mustangs lost to top-seeded Yuma Catholic in the quarterfinals.

The first round on the boy’s side takes place Wednesday with No. 9 Sahuarita and No. 16 Catalina battling on the road.

The Play-In brackets for 4A, 5A and 6A were released on Tuesday and 17 teams from Southern Arizona made the cut.
