The Tucson Rattlers, a club team that has produced 48 players who have earned college scholarships over the last decade, will hold their annual registration and tryouts for girls in grades 9-12 next school year at Pima’s West Gym this weekend.
Registration begins tomorrow and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Tryouts are from 1-4 p.m. tomorrow and from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday.
Some of the Rattlers advancing to college basketball in recent years include Pueblo’s Summer Fox (Black Hills State), Marana’s Bella Muscoreil (Dixie State) and Antoinette Audiss (Embry-Riddle), Ironwood Ridge’s Makayla Holthaus (daughter of Pima coach Todd Holthaus bound for Ottawa), Cienega’s Lauren Green (Long Beach State) and NaKeva Mack (Knox College) and Palo Verde’s Aaliyah Ortiz (Pima).
Former Palo Verde boys coach and Pima women’s assistant coach Chris Klassen continues to operate the Rattlers even though he is now an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team at Knox College at Galesburg, Ill.
Klassen, who coached Bryce Cotton at Palo Verde, will be at Pima this weekend administering the tryouts.
