AllSportsTucson.com is running profiles on some of the players who are participating in the Sun Belt College Summer League this summer at the Kino Sports Complex. Today we are highlighting Pima freshman pitching standout Jaren Jackson.
Name: Jaren Jackson
Height: 6-3. Weight: 200
Position: Left-handed pitcher
Sun Belt Team: Aztecs
High School: Rio Rancho (N.M.) Cleveland (Class of 2019)
College: Pima Community College
Stats: In five starts as a freshman at Pima this season, Jackson was 2-1 with a 5.79 ERA. He struck out 23 batters and walked 10 in 23 innings pitched. Because the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jackson will retain his freshman status next season.
Interesting facts: Pima coach Ken Jacome became familiar with Jackson when he watched him pitch against his son Jacob Jacome, when they were in high school in New Mexico. Jacob attended Volcano Vista High School in Albuquerque. Jackson, who is majoring in business at Pima, also plays first base. With his size, he was a tight end for his high school football team.
