Salpointe junior infielder Logan Cole announced her commitment to play for the University of Arizona on Tuesday. Cole led the Lancers with a .610 batting average last spring before the season was cut short.
“Honored & blessed for her to be a Wildcat!” her mom Patty Cole told AllSportsTucson. “#beardown” She added.
Salpointe was 11-5 at the break and considered one of the favorites to claim the 4A state championship which would have been the third in a row for the program. Salpointe has four state titles with former Salpointe and University of Arizona standout Stacy (Hill) Iveson winning in 1993, Phil Gruensfelder in 1996 and former Salpointe and Arizona catcher Amy (Baray) Rocha capturing the last two titles in 2018 and 2019.
Cole also connected on nine doubles and two triples with six RBI last spring.
Former Ironwood Ridge standouts Izzy Pacho, Allie Skaggs and Devyn Netz are on the Wildcat roster along with former Tucson High standout Carlie Scupin. Iveson is the Director of Recruiting-Operations.
