The Desert Thunder 14U Rosty team, managed by Paul Rosthenhausler Jr., part of the prestigious Rosthenhausler baseball/softbally family in Tucson, captured the championship of the USSSA Thanksgiving Festival today at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex at Phoenix.
Rosthenhausler, a former Sunnyside and Arizona Western baseball standout, and coach Jerry Cruz and assistant coach Chris Cobo led the team to a 6-0 record in games played yesterday and today.
Tatyana Vega hit two home runs in one game. Vega, Macee Jackson, and Ashley Rosthenhausler (Paul’s daughter) each won the two games they pitched this weekend. Their performance and the defense behind them was an important reason for the team’s success.
Desert Thunder allowed only 2.3 runs per game, the lowest total of the 10 teams in the tournament.
