The Desert Thunder 14U Rosty team followed its championship in the USSSA Thanksgiving Festival two weeks ago in Phoenix with the title of the Southern Arizona Showdown today at Ora Mae Harn District Park in Tucson.
The team, managed by Paul Rosthenhausler Jr., went 7-0 in the Showdown after going 6-0 in the Thanksgiving Festival.
They defeated the Tucson Rebels 4-1 in the title game.
Rosthenhausler, a former Sunnyside and Arizona Western baseball standout, and coach Jerry Cruz and assistant coach Chris Cobo have coached the team to a 15-2 record in October and November.
Desert Thunder allowed only 1.1 runs per game in the seven games. It outscored opponents 39-8.
