UA’s Kerr Kriisa headed home to play – for the time being; NCAA has yet to clear him

Arizona may have lost the use of Kerr Kriisa for some time, the UA announced on Monday afternoon.

According to UA, freshman guard Kriisa has been offered the “unique opportunity” to return to his home country of Estonia to compete with the Senior National team in a pair of qualifying games that count towards FIBA Eurobasket 2022. The Estonian national team is slated to play Russia on Nov. 28 and North Macedonia on Nov. 30.

“Given the situation, this is a great opportunity for Kerr,” Arizona head coach Sean Miller said. “We wish him the best of luck in the competition and look forward to his safe return to Arizona.”

Additionally, Kriisa has not been cleared to compete for the Wildcats by the NCAA Eligibility Center as part of the standard initial certification process. The school is continuing to work with the NCAA to resolve the matter.

It’s not clear when or if that will be determined.
