Softball standouts Bella Porter, Alina Felix and Jazmyne Waddell commit to the next level

Canyon del Oro junior Bella Porter announced her commitment to play for Regis University. An outfielder and infielder for the Dorados, Porter picked up a double and scored seven runs to help lead the program to a 10-3 record last spring.

Former Sabino standout Carly Gray is currently a junior for the Rangers and the program is located in Denver and competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Current CDO standouts Miia Campos and Liam Magana also committed to play for Regis.

Canyon del Oro junior standout Alina Felix committed to play for Nebraska. Felix picked up three doubles and nine RBI for the Dorados last spring.

Former Sabino standout Sydney Gray is currently a freshman for the Huskers and Ironwood Ridge standout Haidyn Warner also committed to Nebraska. Located in Lincoln, Nebraska, the program competes in the Big 10.

San Manuel junior Jazmyne Waddell announced her commitment to play for Pima. A dominant pitcher for the Miners, Waddell will be playing for former Flowing Wells, Pima and University of Arizona standout Rebekah Quiroz at Pima.

Current Mountain View standout Makayla Morales also committed to Pima as is Salpointe’s Elise Munoz, Tanque Verde’s Mia Casadei, Matilynn Goerke of Sahuaro and Analisa Gomez of Rincon/UHS.

Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017, a 2019 AZ Education News award winner and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years. He was the first in Arizona to write about high school beach volleyball and high school girls wrestling. His own children have won multiple state high school championships and were named to all-state teams. Andy is the Southern Arizona voting member of the Ed Doherty Award, recognizing the top football player in Arizona, and he was named a Local Hero by the Tucson Weekly for 2016.
