Cienega High School standout Ryan Swoger joined two other local standouts signing a national letter of intent Wednesday when he officially joined the South Dakota State program.
Also on Wednesday, CDO running back Stevie Rocker Jr. signed with Arizona and former Salpointe lineman Jonah Miller signed with Oregon.
Swoger is one of 30 players in South Dakota State’s recruiting class that includes five other Class of 2021 prospects from Arizona. South Dakota State is a Division FCS program.
The 6-foot-3 and 190-pound Swoger played primarily at quarterback for Cienega but will likely play receiver or defensive back in college because of his athleticism. As a junior last season, Swoger passed for 484 yards and rushed for 514 yards.
This dude is an all-around athlete and will be fun for Jacks fans to watch. @mrswoger is a Jackrabbit!#Jack21nvasion#GoJacks 🐰🏈 pic.twitter.com/r37RuRDlh2
