Cienega WR/DB Charles Hamm III commits to Jamestown


Cienega wide receiver/defensive back Charles “Sonny” Hamm III committed and signed with NAIA program Jamestown (N.D.) University on Tuesday, making him the 17th local Class of 2021 prospect to announce his college choice.

Cienega, which led all local schools with 14 players with scholarship offers, now has six players who have aligned themselves with a college.

Including Hamm, they are quarterback/athlete Ryan Swoger (South Dakota State), center Andrew Husfelt (Washburn), strong safety Sebastian Felix (Drake), linebacker Isaiah Webb (Western New Mexico) and tackle Hunter Schlagel (Western New Mexico).

Hamm, 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, played in 14 varsity games over the last two years. This season, the Bobcats played only two games because the season was cut short of COVID-19.

Despite his limited amount of games, Hamm impressed college recruiters with his athleticism. Culver-Stockton and St. Olaf also offered him scholarships.
