Alyssa Brown scored a game-high 28 points to help lead Sahuaro past Ironwood Ridge 67-13 Wednesday night at home. The Cougars moved to 2-0 on the year and the Nighthawks fell to 1-1. Brown is sitting at 2,155 career points and she is No. 23 on the all-time scoring list for Arizona and she is in reach of No. 22 Amy Showers and No. 21 Shawn Coder.
Showers went on to average double digits for San Diego Christian College.
Coder went on to play for the University of Arizona. Coder was named Pac-10 Player of the Week twice in her career with the Wildcats including an honor for when she scored 22 points to help defeat UCLA 91-83 in 1993.

Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017, a 2019 AZ Education News award winner and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years. He was the first in Arizona to write about high school beach volleyball and high school girls wrestling. His own children have won multiple state high school championships and were named to all-state teams.
