Tucson High’s Daniel Becerra commits to Chadron (Neb.) State

Tucson High School wide receiver/safety Daniel Becerra has made his commitment to Chadron (Neb.) State, an NCAA Division II program.

Becerra, 6-foot-3 and 203 pounds, chose the Eagles over reputable programs such as Division 1 FCS school Wagner and also Western New Mexico. Other schools that offered him a scholarship were Dakota State, Hamline, Southwest Minnesota State and Wisconsin-River Falls.

“I chose Chadron because the staff made it clear that I’m someone they wanted there, and can compete early on,” Becerra mentioned. “I’m excited to compete and build a brotherhood.”

Becerra, who has a 3.4 GPA, plans to study anatomy or biology.

He registered two sacks in Tucson’s two games in the fall, a limited schedule because of COVID-19. He also had eight receptions for 155 yards with two touchdowns in those games.

Becerra is the 24th local Class of 2021 prospect to make a commitment or sign with a college. Here is a list:
