Arizona wins 10th straight in front of 583 fans at Hi Corbett

Information from the Arizona media relations department contributed to this report.

For the first time in more than a year — 368 days to be exact — fans entered Hi Corbett Field to watch the Arizona baseball team take the field and the Wildcats delivered their 10th straight victory.

They prevailed 8-5 over Wichita State (6-4) in front of 583 fans.

Arizona (11-2) won behind a bounce-back performance from starting pitcher Chase Silseth (3-0). Over seven innings of work — a season-high for any Wildcat starter — he allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out six and issuing no walks.

The Arizona lineup produced eight runs on 12 hits despite just one of their hits going for extra bases, a double from freshman Jacob Berry.

The Wildcats took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning and never trailed. A pair of insurance runs in the fifth and another in the seventh helped seal the victory.

Designated hitter Ryan Holgate achieved his first three-hit game of the year. He now leads the team with 10 multi-hit performances in 13 games.
