The RSL-AZ Southern Arizona 15U team defeated Salt Lake City League 30 by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday in its first game of bracket play of the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships at Boise, Idaho.
The RSL-AZ Southern Arizona 15U team, coached by Paul DesRosier, had goals from Vivien Villarreal in the first half and Hazel Ramos in the second half off a cross-bar shot by Cayla Jones.
The team plays its last game in Bracket B on Wednesday at 8 a.m. against Billings (Mont.) United BU Pink. A victory will place RSL-AZ Southern Arizona 15U in the quarterfinals, which start Friday. Billings lost to Salt Lake City 8-0 on Monday.
RSL-AZ Southern Arizona 08 13U finished in a 2-2 draw on Monday with the Boise Timbers. Jhianae DesRosier and Luz Mendoza scored the goals. The draw enables the team, also coached by Paul DesRosier, to advance to Friday’s quarterfinals out of Bracket C.
