Continental Ranch rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh inning Friday night to beat Willcox 6-5 in an opening round game of the Arizona Little League state 8-9-10 tournament at Cottonwood.
Continental Ranch, the District 5 champion, will play Cave Creek Cactus Foothills on Saturday at 6 p.m. while Willcox, the District 8 champs, will face Prescott Valley in the elimination bracket at 8 p.m.
Continental Ranch’s Olyvia Carrasco hit a two-run double in the seventh with two outs that scored Mia Corona and Simone Alexander, both of whom had walked.
Willcox rallied for a run in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to 6-5 but Continental Ranch held on for the win.
