Wildcat fans, I am super excited to announce that I will be writing a weekly column for AllSportsTucson. Get an inside look of everything that is happening with Arizona women’s basketball and my personal life. I will be keeping you up to date throughout the whole season, so I hope you enjoy it!

This week marked the start of our first official practice, and for me it was my last first day. It was a bitter-sweet moment and I’m happy to be back with everyone and get the season started, but I also realize it’s one step closer until I will no longer be wearing the Arizona jersey. My mindset going into this season is to take it one step at a time and enjoy every day like it’s my last. I’m going to have fun this season and take advantage of every opportunity that I get.

One area where I have been working on my game this summer is continuing to try and be a consistent shooter and also working on reading the game. In my skill sessions with Coach Salvo, we have been working on different scenarios that the defense might try and attack us with. We drill these everyday so when game time comes, I know exactly what to do. This will help advance my game and make it harder for me to guard because I won’t just be a “shooter” on the scouting report… offensively that is, because I will always give my best defensive efforts.

Overall, I am excited to get this season started and to have our fans actually be able to come to the games. I think we have been anxiously waiting for a long time to have fans, so I can only imagine how eager the Tucson fans are excited to get back into McKale and watch some great basketball. It should be a fun year, and since it’s my last year, I hope I can see some sellouts in McKale before I go.

Aside from basketball, I have been keeping busy off the court. My grad school class schedule is only at nights and once a week. This allows my mornings to be free until practice. I have also started doing an internship with the communications team in McKale. It is only for one semester so I am working with football, volleyball, and soccer during their games helping to keep stats. The job gives me a different perspective of all the behind scenes that happen while the games are going on. Usually I am only focused on playing, and my goal this year is to take advantage of every opportunity presented to me and make the most of it. With this column, I will be able to take you all along with me in my final journey as a wildcat. Stay tuned and Bear Down!
