Tombstone Yellow Jackets
2021 RECORD: 3-7
- Dominik Bonilla’s second season at his alma mater will include playmaking quarterback Aliaz Dyson returning after gaining experience as a freshman starter last season.
- The Yellow Jackets play their first two non-region games on the road against former region opponent Benson (Aug. 19) and Sequioa Pathway (Sept. 2). They don’t play their home opener until Sept. 9 against Globe but then travel to Avondale the next week to play St. John Paul II. Tombstone plays another former region opponent — Morenci — at home Sept. 23.
- Benson, Sequioa Pathway and Morenci all reached the 2A state playoffs last year. Benson was 9-3 after losing in the semifinals, Sequioa Pathway was 7-4 with a loss in the first round and Morenci was 11-3 after a loss in the 2A state title game. Globe was 1-8 and St. John Paul II was 5-4.
- Tombtone’s 2A San Pedro schedule includes road games against Catalina (Sept. 30) and Willcox (Oct. 14) and three home games against Bisbee (Oct. 7), Tanque Verde (Oct. 21) and Santa Rita (Oct. 28).
