Salpointe Class of 2025 track and field and basketball prospect Taliyah Henderson was highly successful in both sports in June, garnering her Jet Sports Training Female of the Month honors.
Henderson earned a bronze medal in the prestigious Nike Outdoor Nationals at Eugene, Ore., in the 400-meter run and she then rejoined her Salpointe team for a high-level tournament in San Diego after being with the team earlier in the month for summer ball.
She has emerged as one of Joseph Luevano’s top players for the 2022-23 season, able to play all five positions at 6-foot-1. During the month of June, she was offered a scholarship from San Diego and BYU. That adds to a list that includes Utah, Hampton and Southern Utah.
Henderson won the Division III state title in the 800 meters at the 2022 AIA State Track & Field Championships in May with her time of 2:21.60, coming ahead of her Salpointe teammate Kylie Wild — who won the 1600m and 3200m — by nearly two seconds.
