Former Canyon del Oro standout Kiko Romero — an Arizona baseball signee — batted .407 in the NJCAA World Series with six home runs and 11 RBIs to lead Central Arizona to the NJCAA World Series National Championship on June 4.

Romero, named the NJCAA World Series Tournament MVP, Outstanding Offensive Player and to the All-Tournament Team, garners Jet Sports Training Male Athlete of the Month honors for June for his exploits.

Romero batted .467 with 12 home runs in CAC’s playoff run.

“He’s been probably our best player for three years in a row,” CAC head coach Andy Gilich told the Arizona Republic. “He’s just such a good player, he has a high baseball IQ. His hitting gets all the attention, but I think he can play five different positions on the field. And he’s just a really good baseball player.”
