Ironwood Ridge standout Brasen Briones tied for 11th place at the High School Golf National Invitational held at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina this week. Briones shot an even 216 (74-71-71), 10 shots behind Jake Albert of Virginia.
Briones won the 2021 AIA Division II state championship and he will be a junior this fall.
The Ironwood Ridge girls tied for 8th place two weeks ago and that team consisted of Raina Ports, Makenna Brown, Hannah Ports, Celia Schrecker and Charlotte Schrecker.
Two-time AIA state champion and former Salpointe standout Mackenzie McRee was the highest individual golfer and she came in tied for 21st with a 10-over 224 (74-78-72).
Ironwood Ridge won the last three AIA D-II team championships in a row.
