Former Sahuarita standout Ian Mejia was selected by the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday during the 11th Round as the 335th pick. Mejia was previously drafted by the New York Mets in the 35th round of the 2018 Draft.
A Right-Handed Pitcher, Mejia was on the University of Arizona roster in 2019 before moving over to Pima where he had a 3-0 record and a 3.28 ERA. He then signed on with New Mexico State where he earned National Player of the Week honors in May of this spring and he helped lead the Aggies to a WAC championship and an NCAA tournament appearance. He collected nine strikeouts in seven innings of work in an extra-inning loss to Oregon State in the tournament.
