The Marana Juniors lost to Summerlin (NV) 13-1 Sunday morning but the District 5 champion rebounded with an 8-6 thriller over Colusa (No. California) in the Elimination Bracket Sunday night at the Arthur Pack complex.
Up 8-5 entering the top of the seventh inning, the team needed to hold on to advance to play Monday night but Colusa battled to the end with Ellianna Santana leading the inning off with a walk to set up a potential comeback. Aubrianna Gray replaced Cadence Beck in the circle to start the inning off and the walk set up a save situation for Gray.

Santana stole second base but a groundout gave Colusa one out and then Cece Mitchum brought Santana in on an RBI groundout to make it 8-6. Abril Guzman followed with a single to put the tying run at the plate and then Marlie Berry delivered with a single up the middle but Malia Mills fielded the ball in centerfield and she fired home to catcher Taylor Horne where Horne was able to apply the tag on Guzman at home for the third out and the 8-6 victory.
Beck picked up the win with six strikeouts and Mitchum kept Colusa close with six innings of work in the circle.
