Marana Junior League Softball All-Stars begin play Sunday in World Series at Kirkland, Wash.

Marana won five straight elimination games in the West Regional Junior League Tournament at Arthur Pack to put itself in this position to represent the West in this week’s Junior League World Series at Kirkland, Wash.

Marana opens play in Pool B on Sunday at 9 a.m. against Latin America. All the games will be televised by ESPN-Plus.

Marana eliminated Washington with two wins Wednesday at Arthur Pack after losing the first game of last week’s regionals to Washington by a score of 10-5.

This is the first time a team from Marana Little League will play in a world series.

Marana, coached by Sam Mills, will play four games of pool play through Wednesday. The top four teams in each pool advance to a single-elimination tournament starting Thursday.

The roster (featured below in baseball-card form) includes 12 players, most of whom have played together with Marana Little League starting in the 8-9-10 age bracket.

Last year, 10 were part of Marana’s team that played in the West Region Junior League Tournament at Arthur Pack.

Cadence Beck, a sophomore at Marana High School, is one of the most familiar names on the roster. Two years ago, she competed in the Little League Home Run Derby at Williamsport, Pa., after qualifying in competition at Seattle.
