Marana may have lost in the quarterfinals of the Junior League Softball World Series championship bracket Thursday but the group from Southern Arizona was a winner from their experience.

Marana (West U.S.) lost 4-0 to Bago City, Philippines (Asia-Pacific) on Thursday to complete their run toward the championship.

The team will play Victoria, British Columbia (Canada) on Friday in an exhibition game before returning home.

Aubriana Gray pitched seven quality innings against Bago City on Thursday, allowing seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk.

Bago City’s Erica Arnaiz was the story of the game.

She pitched a no-hitter, striking out 17 of the 21 batters she faced. Marana was unable to hit the ball out of the infield.

Marana has done sightseeing in Seattle and also participated in festivities of the World Series at Kirkland, Wash.

It has the distinction of being the first team from Marana Little League, baseball or softball, to advance to a World Series.
