Former Catalina Foothills standout Caitlyn Maher took a shot in the 64th minute in a scoreless tie against No. 17 Cochise College Tuesday night at home and former Tucson High standout Juliana Valdez followed through on Maher’s offering to give the top-ranked Pima Aztecs a 1-0 lead. Former Salpointe keeper Angelina Amparano was a wall once again and the sophomore picked up nine more saves to help push the Aztecs to 3-0 on the year. Cochise fell to 3-2.
The Aztecs will host a friendly against Arizona Christian Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
