Taz Almazan and Romeo Romero, who both train out of the Eyrie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Tucson, earned gold medals at the Jiu-Jitsu Con that was held last weekend at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Almazon and Romero are both Grey Belts. Alamazan is 11 and Romero 8.
Four other Eyrie athletes earned medals — Xitlali Stadler (Grey Belt who is 8) and Annabelle Evans (Blue Belt who is 16) each took home a silver medal and Xitlali Verduzco (Grey Belt who is 12) and Joceline Rodriguez (Blue Belt who is 16) each came away with a bronze medal.
The Eyrie athletes are youths up to 16 years old and Daimyo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy athletes are adults. Both academies have adults and youths. Coincidentally, Eyrie didn’t send adults this year and Daimyo didn’t send youths to Las Vegas. The results of the Daimyo athletes are below.
