Noteworthy: Bias has an extensive background as a head coach, mostly in Ohio for 21 years before coaching the previous six seasons at Vista Grande in Casa Grande. He has a background of befriending John Wooden and learning how to coach through his friendship with former Bruin Swen Nater. … Bias replaces Jason Apodaca, who is now coaching Cienega after four years leading the Dorado program. … CDO has no returning starters from last season. Through the first six games, three players were averaging scoring in double figures — Dixon 19.5, Ibarra 11.8 and Watson 10.0. … Touted CDO football player Sa’Kylee Woodard, a lineman with the Dorados, joined the basketball team after his team lost in the 4A semifinals last week. … CDO’s leading scorer from last season — Class of 2023 guard Tyson Helms, who averaged 20.1 points a game — is no longer with the program.
