Cholla, Rincon/UHS and Sahuarita move down in new proposed football alignment

INITIAL 2023 FOOTBALL PLACEMENTS

The initial football conference placements for the 2023 year have been posted and schools have until Jan. 5 to appeal. The conferences will be finalized on Jan. 17 and the initial region placements will be released on Jan. 24. Everything will be finalized by Feb. 21.

Cholla and Rincon/University moved from 5A to 4A under the new model and Sahuarita was moved from 4A to 3A. According to Desire Wheeler, the TUSD Athletic Director, there are talks of Santa Rita taking part in a developmental league but those talks are way too early in the planning stage.
