Carlie Scupin named to the USA Softball Watch List; Nick Gonzales to Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect List

University of Arizona infielder Carlie Scupin (Tucson High) was named to the USA Softball Top 50 Watch List on Wednesday. The top 25 will be released on April 19.

Scupin was the Arizona Gatorade High School Player of the Year in 2019 and the junior has 28 home runs, a triple, 21 doubles and 97 RBI in her career while batting .358.

Former Cienega standout Nick Gonzales was named a Top 10 Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect (No. 8) by Baseball America on Jan. 17. Gonzales is currently on the AA Altoona Curve roster.

This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but collegiate and professional recognitions. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS.
