DESERT VIEW BASEBALL HOSTS STRIKE OUT CHILDHOOD CANCER NIGHT

Desert View baseball announced a “Strike Out Childhood Cancer Night” this Tuesday in recognition of three year old Remi B. The program would like spectators to wear orange for the game against Douglas at Desert View. The first pitch ceremony is set for 5:50 p.m.

ABBIGAIL MULICK TO PLAY TENNIS FOR STANISLAUS STATE

Catalina Foothills standout Abbigail Mulick announced her commitment to play tennis for Stanislaus State, located in Turlock, California. Abbigail will be joining her sister Annabelle, who will be a junior for the Warriors next year. The sister joined forces to take second place at state doubles in 2021 and Abbigail won a doubles title last year with Sophia Silverman.

FOUR LOCAL BASKETBALL STANDOUTS HELP KNOX PRAIRIE FIRE MAKE NCAA TOURNAMENT

The Knox Prairie Fire (22-5) women’s basketball team beat Ripon 64-61 on Saturday to win the Midwest Conference (MWC) Tournament for the first time in program history. Leading the way was former Salpointe standout Kylee Callahan who scored 16 points.

The team also features former Rincon/UHS standout Loraya Rocha along with former Lancers Brianna Arizmendi and Mae Callahan. Knox Prairie Fire will face Loras College this Friday in the first round of the NCAA D-III tournament in Dubuque, Iowa.

Named one of “Arizona’s Heart & Sol” by KOLD and Casino del Sol, Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017 and a 2019 AZ Education News recognition. Andy is a Southern Arizona voting member of the Ed Doherty Award, recognizing the top football player in Arizona, and he was named a Local Hero by the Tucson Weekly for 2016. Andy was named an Honorary Flowing Wells Caballero in 2019, became a member of the Sunnyside Los Mezquites Cross Country Hall of Fame in 2021 and he was a member of the Amphi COVID-19 Blue Ribbon Committee.
