Sabino senior Emerald Kwinn is one of the top distance throwers in the state, exemplified by her personal-best shot put mark at the Willie Williams Classic on the weekend of March 24-25 hosted by Arizona.
Kwinn’s shot put of 42 feet, 0.2 inches is the best mark in the state this spring. She also has the second-best discus throw among Southern Arizona female athletes at 122-9.
Her overall performance merits her the honor of Jet Sports Training Female Athlete of the Month for March.
Kwinn is the younger sister of former Sabino distance-thrower standout Jade, a sophomore at NAU who won the Big Sky javelin championships last year with a personal best throw of 49.32 meters.
