Nine extra-base hits helped the Arizona Wildcats rout the visiting New Mexico State Aggies on Tuesday night at Hi Corbett Field, extending their winning streak to three games.

Arizona (17-13) completed its eight-game homestand with a 4-4 record. The Wildcats start a three-game Pac-12 series at Washington State on Friday.

New Mexico State (6-22) was led by former Salpointe and Pima standout Romeo Ballesteros going 1 for 3 with a run and RBI double.

Kiko Romero (CDO grad), Chase Davis, Brendan Summerhill and Maddox Mihalakis all hit home runs for Arizona.

Summerhill, who had an inside-the-park homer, and Mihalakis both picked up their first career collegiate home runs.

Starting pitcher Cam Walty (1-0) earned a win in his debut start with the Wildcats. The right-hander struck out seven over five innings of one-hit shutout ball.

Left-hander Eric Orloff and a trio of righties in Trevor Long, Dawson Netz and Chris Barraza worked the final three innings for Arizona and held New Mexico State scoreless while allowing only one hit.

Romero, Mason White (Salpointe), Summerhill, Davis and Nik McClaughry each had two hits.

With Romero’s 10th home run of the season, the Wildcats now boast four consecutive complete seasons with two players hitting double digit home runs (2019, 2021, 2022, 2023). Davis has 12 home runs.
