The Pima College baseball team is heading to Beatrice, Neb., to play in the NJCAA Division I West District Tournament with a chance to advance to the NJCAA Division I World Series for the first time since 1992.
The Aztecs (45-16) will be part of the double-elimination tournament beginning on Thursday with the games played at Southeast College’s Christenson Field. Beatrice is located 25 miles south of Lincoln, Neb.
Pima coach Ken Jacome’s team will open Thursday against McCook (Neb.) College (37-23) at 1 p.m., Tucson time. The second game will feature Salt Lake (28-17) against Southeast (42-16) at 5 p.m.

The Aztecs advanced to the district tournament with a 6-4 win over Arizona Western on Saturday in Game 3 of the best-of-three NJCAA Region I, Division I championship series — the first such title earned by the Aztecs since 1998.
