FC Tucson moved to 5-1-2 on the year after coming back to defeat the Southern California Seahorses 2-1 Friday night at Kino North Stadium. The club from Mirada fell to 1-2-1.
Armando Ibarra put the Seahorses up 1-0 in the 27th minute on a free kick and that held up until Gyorgy Kamaras hit the net in the 45th to even the match and then Antonio Lopez scored in the 85th minute to avoid a draw.
The Men in Black will hit the road to play at Capistrano FC (0-4-1) on Friday, June 16. FC Tucson beat Capo 2-0 at home on June 3. The team will return to Kino North on Saturday, June 24 against Ventura County Fusion (4-1). The Fusion beat FC Tucson 4-0 on May 26.
FC Tucson is now 2-1-2 in USL League Two play.
Ranked No. 8 in the West Region, FC Tucson Women (1-0) is playing at Utah Royals FC- AZ (1-1) tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep. FC Tucson is coming off a record-setting 7-1 victory over El Paso Surf and the Royals beat Arizona Arsenal 4-0 last Saturday at home.
Former Northwest Christian standout Ellie Johannes (Indiana) is leading the Royals with two goals. Former Walden Grove standout Meredith Scott (New Mexico State) leads Tucson with three goals.
