FC Tucson continued its impressive start to the 2025 USL League Two season with a convincing 19-0 victory Friday night over Coachella FC at Kino North Stadium, improving to 3-0 on the year.
The result keeps the club unbeaten in Western Conference play as it builds momentum in defense of its 2024 Western Conference title.
With contributions from across the roster, the team showed cohesion, energy, and commitment on both sides of the ball. The coaching staff praised the group’s focus and execution as the club looks ahead to a demanding summer schedule.
“It feels good. It’s good for the attacking players, they get a lot of confidence,” said FC Tucson coach Sebastian Pineda.
“If you’re not giving 100 percent to the opponent, that’s not showing respect,” said centerback D’Andre Pickett, a Tucson native. “It doesn’t matter if it’s 8-0 or 19-0, you keep going because that’s showing respect to your opponent.”
FC Tucson has also defeated CCV Stars 5-2 and Redlands FC (2-1). The team is at the top of the Southwest Division standings with nine points through three matches and a plus-23 goal differential.
Friday’s match resulted in multiple records for FC Tucson:
Most Goals in a Competitive Match: 19 (10 previous)
Most Goals in a Competitive Half: 11 (seven previous)
Most Players with a Hat-trick in a match: three (Jesse Wangusi, Hector Moreno, Juan Pablo Sanchez)
