Former Canyon del Oro standout Turner Washington, who completed his career at ASU this year, unleashed a throw of 217 feet, 3 inches (66.22 meters) on his final attempt June 9 to capture his second NCAA discus championship and fifth individual title overall.

Washington also earned a silver medal in the shot put.

His final throw in the discus earned him his ninth All-America honor.

The performance earns him the Jet Sports Training Male Athlete of the Month for June.

During his career at CDO, he was the 2017 silver medalist at the Pan-Am Junior Championships in the discus throw and was named the 2017 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Arizona after winning a national title at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championships with a toss of 223’0 feet (67.97m) in the discus throw.

He set a personal-best of 227’10.25 feet (69.44m) in May of 2017, good for the top prep mark in the country and is the fourth-best in prep history.
