FC Tucson Women can clinch playoff spot; the Men are undefeated at home

FC Tucson Women (3-1-3) enters the final match of the regular season needing a victory at SC del Sol (4-2) Friday night to guarantee a spot in the WPSL West Region playoffs. The two clubs are tied with 12 points along with Arizona Arsenal (4-3) but SC del Sol has played one less match. The Royals FC (3-2-2) are right behind with 11 points.

The top two teams will advance to the playoffs and a win by FC Tucson Women will place the club in the top two and Tucson will host the playoffs at Kino North Stadium. Arizona Arsenal and FC del Sol are slated to play each other on Saturday to close out the regular season. The Royals will host El Paso Surf (0-6-1) on Saturday. A win by the Royals will make things interesting in the final standings. Point differential is a tiebreaker in the standings after head-to-head results are taken into consideration. FC Tucson Women beat SC del Sol 4-2 on June 16.

The FC Tucson Men are currently sitting in second place in the Southwest Division of USL League 2. The club is undefeated at home and unbeaten in their last seven matches, including three straight victories. FC Tucson defeated Arizona Arsenal on Saturday 6-2 with forward Jose Contell bagging a hat trick.

Tucson takes on Redlands FC, whom they are battling with for the final playoff spot in the Southwest, this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Kino North Stadium.

FC Tucson is hosting another “Barrio to Barrio” event on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Lincoln Park to support healthy communities, sponsored by Arizona Complete Health. There will be a free two hour soccer clinic and other activities.
