2023 football: 50 top Southern Arizona seniors — Salpointe lineman Luis Cordova


Today marks only 42 days until the kickoff of the 2023 Southern Arizona high school football season with games scheduled Aug. 18. AllSportsTucson.com is listing 50 of the top seniors in Southern Arizona during this stretch. This is not a ranking. This is a list in alphabetical order. We acknowledge more than 50 quality seniors will play on high school fields locally this fall and we will report on them accordingly.

Luis Cordova, 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports who holds a scholarship offer from Arizona while also getting interest from Cal, San Jose State, Stanford and UCLA. He has taken trips to Louisville and Notre Dame as well. … Cordova was part of a four-player group from Southern Arizona that played in the National 8th Grade All-Star Game in Orlando in 2019. He joined CDO seniors Sa’Kylee Woodard and Kayden Luke and Sabino senior Savaughn Berryhill in that game. … Cordova carries a 3.87 GPA. … In the last month, Cordova has taken part in camps at Arizona, USC, NAU, Notre Dame, West Point and Southern Utah. … Salpointe coach Eric Rogers has stated that he will use Cordova more as a defensive tackle this season between ends Elijah Rushing and Keona Wilhite to give the Lancers more of a threat in the middle. Cordova has played mostly as an offensive tackle his first three varsity seasons. … “My game is really violent, and I’m very hard working,” Cordova told Sports360AZ.com. “I keep on my mind on the gold. I’m a versatile lineman, and I can do the work. What do you need me to do? I can do it.”
