Tucson Saguaros’ winning streak snapped at seven games with loss to Alpine (Texas) Cowboys

A preview of the scheduled Pecos League Mountain Division first-round matchup between the Tucson Saguaros and Alpine (Texas) Cowboys that runs Aug. 1-3 at Kino Memorial Stadium is being played this week in Tucson, and the Cowboys appear to be a tough out.

Alpine snapped Tucson’s winning streak at seven games with a 13-11 victory on Thursday night at Kino.

The Saguaros remain atop the Mountain Division at 30-10 while Alpine is now 29-16.

The three-game series resumes Friday night at 7 p.m. with Military Appreciation Night. Veterans and active military with IDs get in for only $5. General admission is $10. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.

Jeff Disla, formerly of Northern State, hit a home run and tallied four RBIs for Alpine in its win Thursday.

The Tucson Saguaros were led by Brock Ephan’s 3-for-5 performance with a double and two RBIs. Ephan is formerly of Lewis-Clark State.

Colin Johnson (Alfred State) also went 2 for 5 with a run and RBI.
