Rincon punctuated a dominating 5-0 run through the 8-10 state tournament with a 12-1 win Monday night over Arcadia in five innings at Purple Heart Park.

Rincon outscored its opponents 62-6 in the tournament over the last week. It followed up a 15-0 win over Arcadia in the semifinals with Monday’s victory over the team from Scottsdale.

Calvin Williams pitched his team to the win allowing only three hits in five innings with six strikeouts and two walks. He commented after the game that Rincon was determined to beat Arcadia after Arcadia eliminated them last season in the semifinals.

Gavin Allison led Rincon at the plate going 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs.

Dom Hainley and Richie Cantabrana each drove in two runs. Grant Barnes and Brycen Barnes each scored two runs.

After a rain delay of 45 minutes, Rincon scored six runs in the top of the fifth taking advantage of seven errors committed by Arcadia.

Rincon led 12-1 going to the bottom of the fifth and Williams struck out the last two batters he faced to end the game.

Rincon finally broke through with the state title after coming up short the last three seasons following district championships.
