Tucson Post 7 beat St. George, Utah 2-0 on Saturday to advance to the semifinal round of the American Legion West Regional taking place in Fairfield, California this week. Tucson (3-1) lost in the first round to Texas on Wednesday and the state of Arizona representative has reeled off three straight wins to avoid elimination. Tucson will face Las Vegas (3-1) at 1 p.m. on Sunday for a shot at League City, Texas (3-1) in the championship final scheduled for 4 p.m.
Nevada beat Texas 7-1 Saturday night to set up the championship round of three teams. Texas beat Tucson 6-2 on Wednesday.
Tucson scored a run in the top of fifth on an RBI double from Jordan Lesley to score Javier Encinas and another run in the sixth inning on an RBI from Sebastian Pino, scoring Jaden Leon who had reached on a double.
Pino got the win on 6.2 innings of work and Lesley got the save with Utah stranding two runners in scoring position with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
