2023 football: 50 top Southern Arizona seniors — Salpointe RB/S Jaxson Banhie

Today marks only nine days until the kickoff of the 2023 Southern Arizona high school football season with games scheduled Aug. 18. AllSportsTucson.com is listing 50 of the top seniors in Southern Arizona during this stretch. This is not a ranking. We acknowledge more than 50 quality seniors will play on high school fields locally this fall and we will report on them accordingly.

Jaxson Banhie, 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, has overcome injury problems early in his varsity career and appears ready to be a force for Salpointe after an encouraging start to his career when he was in youth football in Tucson. He was part of the 14U Tucson All-Star team in 2019 that advanced to the AYF national championship game in Orlando, Fla. … Banhie has a history of training with former CDO and Arizona standout running back Ka’Deem Carey. … Prepared for his first full season with the Lancers.

Salpointe coach Eric Rogers on Banhie: “Jaxson is the undeniable leader of this team. I can text him and he will deliver the important message to his teammates. He’s a phenomenal student with a 3.9 GPA. He is athletic and dependable as a running back, and he will also play some safety this year.”
