Power ranking update: Mica Mountain No. 2 & CDO No. 3 in 4A heading into Friday’s showdown


AIA power ratings as of Tues., Oct. 10 for Class 1A to 6A schools, including Open Division. Top 8 for Open Division and top 10 for all classes listed with Southern Arizona teams shown up to No. 25 in each ranking. Southern Arizona teams in bold.

OPEN DIVISION

Update: CDO went from No. 9 to No. 11 and Mica Mountain No. 10 to No. 9. Top eight teams make the Open Division. CDO hosts Mica Mountain in a significant 4A Kino game Friday night at 7 p.m. Salpointe, which plays at No. 2 Liberty on Friday, enters the rankings at No. 16.

Mica Mountain and CDO flip-flopped positions from last week with Mica Mountain now No. 2 and CDO No. 3. Interesting to see if the winner of Friday’s game will overtake Yuma Catholic for the No. 1 spot. Walden Grove moved up two spots to No. 11 after routing Sahuaro.

Sabino dropped one spot to No. 6 after losing at home to Thatcher, which went from No. 11 to No. 9. Pusch Ridge fell to No. 10 following its home loss to Morenci after being at No. 7 last week. Morenci is at No. 11. Safford is not too far behind at No. 14. Four 3A South teams in the top 14 in the state is impressive.
